"New Japanism" at the Fourth Autumn Festival of Japanese Arts

held in the heart of Warsaw in October 2019. The organizer of the Festival, Chie Piskorska, describes the "New Japanism":
"Japanism" is a term that means the influence of Japanese art and culture on Western art
in the late nineteenth century. Japan was a powerful catalyst for the development of new art trends in Europe,
such as Impressionism, Art Nouveau, Modernism. Even today, all over the world,
we can find many fascinated by Japanese culture and artists inspired by its art.
Whether we are aware of it or not, in our everyday life elements of Japaneseness are commonly present.
Maybe we are witnessing a phenomenon, that can be called "new japanism"?
The exhibition presented paintings on canvas in own mixed technique:
"The Nagasaki Nocturne" (100x100 cm) from the cycle
Contemplation
and the diptych: "Wabi-sabi Horizon" (100x50cm) and " Focusing rite" (100x50cm) from
Echoes cycle.
